i Phone

Last week I went out and got myself an early present. First, let me say that I have been happy with my old diehard Sprint phone, but when a buddy got an iPhone I decided it was time for change...real change HEHEHEHE. Anyway, I got an iPhone - HOLY CRAP! Is this a great phone! You all need one. And so far the service has been good.

Phone, iPod, Internet, and more.

Introducing iPhone 3G. With fast 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more features at your fingertips. And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser. iPhone 3G. It redefines what a mobile phone can do — again.

Ride Your Bike!

I was reading a little post at REI.com and thought I would share it with everyone. It's about riding your bike. Makes sense to me!

Welcome back to the saddle! By reading this, it means you already taking that first step towards getting back on a bike for fun or transportation. We think that's awesome, and we're here to help you go for it.

So what has you thinking about riding your bike? There are in fact lots of great reasons to dust off your bike (or even ride for the very first time) and start pedaling:

* High gas prices (ah, perhaps you've heard of this?).
* Paying all those other car-related expenses: parking, repairs, insurance.
* Getting some exercise.
* Doing your part to be more "green."
* Getting some fresh air.
* Reducing your stress level.
* Seeing your environs at a slower pace.

Sounds great, you say, but let's get real for a minute, too. Most of us have found plenty of reasons NOT to go riding, so let's take on those fears one by one.
12 Cycling Myths, Exposed!

Myth #1: Biking requires too much gear.
Reality: The basic necessities for cycling are just you, a bike and a helmet to protect your noggin. You don't need fancy-schmancy biking gear to ride a bike. Of course, the gear is nice to have, but that can come later. Just get on a bike and go.
a bike, a helmet and you

Myth #2: It's costly to buy a bike and all the gear for cycling.
Reality: It's actually far cheaper than buying and operating a car. Parking is free. A bike doesn't need gas. It has fewer components and requires less-expensive maintenance.

Myth #3: Only expensive bikes are any good.
Reality: While pricey bikes can be "nicer" to ride, almost any bike in good working condition can get you to where you want to go. Even an old-fashioned single-speed will work. It may just take you longer and you don't have the luxury of gearing up or down for hills, but you will get where you want to go.

Myth #4: Biking takes too much time.
Reality: It does require a little extra planning to ride, but, depending on the distance and traffic, it might actually take less time to bike than it does to drive. Plus, you burn calories and can run errands while you ride.

Myth #5: Biking is too dangerous.
Reality: Most cyclists ride for years without mishap. Acting like a driver, being predictable, wearing bright clothing, being aware of your surroundings, anticipating driver behavior, making eye contact with drivers, having hands ready on brakes, watching for car doors opening, following traffic rules and claiming your lane will help improve your safety.

Myth #6: Bike seats are uncomfortable.
Reality: Bikes generally come with a generic, unisex saddle. If yours feels uncomfortable, try upgrading to one with gel padding or one that's gender specific. Bike seats also come in different sizes and shapes, such as cutaway models.

Myth #7: I'm clueless about how to maintain my bike.
Reality: Maybe so, but it's easy to learn the basics. Sign up for a class at your local REI or take advantage of our online how-to videos and articles. Or, if bike-maintenance is really not your thing, there's no shame in taking your ride to your REI Bike Shop for a professional tune-up or repair.

Myth #8: I'm too out of shape to ride.
Reality: Riding your bike will help you get back into shape. For a little inspiration, try our savings calculator. In the beginning, don't be afraid to stop and walk—especially on a hill. The more you bike, the easier it will get. Of course, if you have a serious health condition, check with your doctor before riding.

Myth #9: You can't carry much stuff on a bike.
Reality: You'd be surprised how many groceries or work items you can bring on a bike. Start by wearing a daypack or messenger bag, or add a rack and carry your things in panniers or attachable bags. For even bigger loads, consider a bike trailer.

Myth #10: It's too far for me to commute to work.
Reality: You can always ride just part of the way or only one way. Drive to a different starting point to reduce the distance. Catch a ride to work with someone and bike home. Or take the bus—most have a rack in front for bicycles.

Myth #11: I'll get sweaty.
Reality: Sometimes this can be difficult to avoid, but you can always just ride casually to avoid too much exertion. If possible, ride in the morning when it's cooler. Remember, when you're cycling you will usually catch a breeze to help cool off.

Myth #12: My work clothes will get wrinkled.
Reality: If you decide to ride to work, pack along work clothes with fabrics that are less prone to wrinkles when packed, or use packing folders and cubes to reduce wrinkles. On those days when you're driving or going by bus, bring clothes for your bike-riding days so you don't have to carry them on your ride.

GSG 5 The mother of Fun Guns to Shoot

Ever since I was a young lad I dreamed of the day of having a H&K MP5, Ok maybe not since I was a young lad but at least the last 15 years. About 3 months ago a friend of mine ( we'll call him Jay ) showed me this great new gun that was coming out. Needless to say I was very excited ( any time a new fancy gun comes out I'm excited ) my wife wasn't! we'll guess what, it came in. I put 400 rounds through it this last weekend and holy crap is it fun.

The GSG-5 was designed from scratch to be a very close replica to the MP5. The controls are identical. The appearance is very close, and unless you have a real MP5 right there to compare against, you'd be hard pressed to find the differences.

"Just Like the MP-5, But in .22!"

Here is a you tube link to a guy ( not me ) shooting the gun

Thanks Jay!! Money well spent!

BAD PLASTIC ! GOOD PLASTIC !

Recently we have all been hearing about good and bad plastics in water bottles ( and other stuff ) I am so confused on what PLASTIC I can drink out of! They say numbers 3, 6 and 7 and are BAD and that numbers 1, 2, 4 and 5 are GOOD. So here is my solution to you. As usual I did not find this my friend Steve did and passed it on to me ( give credit where credit is due ) I ordered a few from REI.com and really like them. They also come in different sizes.

Kershaw Knives

As some of you may know, I like knives. I recently played with but have not yet purchased the new Kershaw E.T. knife ( I am waiting for my friend Steve to buy it; he buys all the fancy new knives). E.T. means External Toggle. It is a very interesting knife, not so practical, but still kinda cool.

The E.T. series features Kershaw's new External Toggle. The Toggle enables the user to open or close the blade with one hand, either right or left. With just a little practice it is fast and easy to use. And for extreme blade security, just fold the blade in, engage the E.T. safety, and the blade is secure no matter how or where you carry it. To take advantage of this fact, the E.T. also has a built-in carabiner function that enables you to clip it to a belt loop so the knife is always handy, yet with confidence that the blade can never accidentally deploy. The Sandvik 13C26 stainless steel blade provides durability and edge retention. The anodized aluminum handle makes the knife lightweight and easy to carry. And just because you never know when you're going to need one, the E.T. also includes a convenient bottle opener. Choose from two dramatic looks to suit your style: classic matte black or our "splattered" Urban Camo.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Steel: Sandvik 13C26 stainless-steel with bead-blasted finish
Handle: 6061-T6 anodized aluminum
Blade Length: 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm)
Closed Length: 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm)
Overall Length: N/A
Weight: 3.7 oz.

I HIT 42 MPG !!!!!

I usually don't continue the same blog, but I am so happy with my purchase that thought I would give you a little more insight to my ride. I have slightly altered my driving habits and am now getting 42mpg in town in my Camry! I have read where some people get 50 mpg in town so I will continue to try and achieve this. This car truly teaches you to drive a little more conservatively and I must say I am enjoying it. I am also enjoying all the people thinking that I am doing such a great thing for our mother Earth (truth be told I am doing this to save some GREEN - green money) but it's nice to know I am burning less fuel in the process.

They still have a couple left if you want one: www.lascrucestoyota.com

LaserMax

Every once in a while I come across something that makes me go "WOW! I should have gotten this a long time ago." The LaserMax for my Glock 23 is one the best purchases I have made in a long time. I finally got to try it out this past weekend and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. The ease of use was great and the fact that it is built into the gun instead of a bulky laser attached underneath. Not to mention you can still attach a flashlight if you want. This product gets a big thumbs up from me. I'm getting ready to order one for my Glock 22 now.

Top of the line. Extremely rugged, lightweight and completely internal. Widely adopted by SWAT, Special Forces, Federal Agencies, Presidential Security Services, and many other top tier forces. Also available to civilians for personal protection.

Completely internal! Keep your holster, keep your tact lights, keep your favorite grips.

Extremely rugged. LaserMax internal guide rods meet or exceed both Mil-Spec and Homeland Security durability test standards (drop tests, blowing sand, temperature and humidity extremes, salt water fog, deep water immersion, 20,000+ rounds live fire).

Installation takes minutes. If you can field-strip your gun, you can install your LaserMax sight—No gunsmithing required.

Hi-Vis Pulsating Beam. Pulsating gives effortless awareness of muzzle direction, transcends language barriers. Can be used outdoors from dusk till dawn, or indoors round-the-clock. IR versions optimized for NVG characteristics.

Alignment. The Internal Guide Rod lasers come permanently aligned from the factory* for center-of-mass accuracy at 20 yards. It will never drift out of alignment. There is no need to re-zero after changing batteries.
*1911 models are user-adjustable to accommodate variations in frames from different manufacturers.

Accuracy. As close to the bore of the firearm as possible, positioning allows for the closest and most consistent relationship between your point of aim and point of impact (POA/POI) over all shooting distances. Especially useful for moving targets.

Turn it on! Ambidextrous switch in custom take-down lever. Deliberate on/off activation—highly desirable in a tactical or personal defense situation!

Batteries Powered by watch or hearing aid batteries, easily found in grocery, pharmacy and electronics stores (e.g., Radio Shack). Also available from LaserMax.

NON Lethal Force

Recently a co-worker of mine found herself in a situation where she really needed some sort of defense but didn't really want to use lethal force. I have been doing some research and found the perfect solution using a mace-type product, but with a lot more kick.

Life Act JPX Jet Protector by Kimber

The new JPX Jet Protector® is the most functional and powerful hand-held OC delivery system available today. The conventional design speeds training and ensures accurate solution delivery, and a pyrotechnic drive launches near pharmaceutical grade OC solution at 270 MPH. Magazines are available in a standard or SelfClean model that can reach out to distances of 21 feet. Each magazine contains two charges with a much larger payload than the Guardian Angel, and quickly snaps on the frame. The power of each payload combined with reloading makes the JPX extremely effective for crowd control, and the conventional double action only trigger automatically resets to fire the other charge. Orange or black frames are available, and an integral laser sight is optional.
  • Instantly incapacitates an assailant.
  • Revolutionary non-aerosol propulsion.
  • Jet delivery minimizes cross-contamination.
  • Each magazine contains two powerful blasts.
  • Reloading is both easy and fast.

Wicked Laser Flashlight can make fire

The Torch is the world's brightest and most powerful flashlight. It is capable of melting plastic, lighting paper on fire within seconds, and if you like, fry an egg or a marshmallow on a stick.

At 4100 lumens, The Torch is 100 lumens more powerful than The Polarion Helios, the former most powerful flashlight. Apparently Wicked Lasers has The Torch currently in review at the Guinness Book of World Records.

Measurements of the torch are 57mm x 230mm. The battery lasts for 15min. The 4100 lumens can be adjusted via a high efficiency reflector. The casing is made from aerospace grade aluminum.

The Torch sells for $299.99 at the Wicked Lasers site.

Triumph N.E.C.K.™ (No-nonsense Emergency Compact Knife)

I was once asked why I have so many knives and flashlights. The answer is simple; no such thing as too many knives and flashlights. I don't even want to guess at how many I have, but if I laid them down end to end I think I could reach a neighboring state.

I recently got this cool knife as a gift ( lucky for me my friends also know there is no such thing as having too many!)

Every professional operator knows about those situations when their primary weapon cannot be used, whether due to surprise attack, proximity of bystanders, equipment malfunction or lack of ammunition. Pat Crawford designed the Triumph N.E.C.K.™ (No-nonsense Emergency Compact Knife) for just those occasions.

Both Triumph N.E.C.K. models are based on the same beefy 0.14” thick blade used on the Triumph Folder. In this case it is a full-tang skeletonized design, with recurved dual-grind Tanto to aid cutting and a false top edge grind for penetrating power. We offer two different knife/carry systems.

Triumph N.E.C.K.™ Satin. Our basic system includes the Triumph N.E.C.K. knife in a satin finish plus a custom Kydex® sheath with a patented* quick-release belt-mounting system. The basic sheath has detents which grip the knife securely for inverted carry as a neck knife with a chain (not included). The belt clip can be attached with the Chicago screws provided for vertical or horizontal carry. Simply press in the injection-molded nylon retaining clip for instant attachment or release.

Triumph N.E.C.K.™ Cord Wrapped. The deluxe system includes the knife with a non-reflective black EDP coating, cord-wrapped handle, the custom Kydex sheath and belt clip described above, and a MercHarness™. The olive drab nylon paracord wrap gives excellent feel and grip, and terminates in a fob.

The MercHarness, designed by George Matheis, is a revolutionary new way to carry fixed blades. The harness is a length of mil-spec paracord, gutted so it is flat. Soft rubber keepers allow adjustment of the harness even when wearing it. Users just tie the cord through the eyelets of the Triumph N.E.C.K. sheath and slip the MercHarness over their shoulders for comfort and concealability under uniforms, tactical vests or even T-shirts. Drawing from the MercHarness is lightning quick with either a cross draw to the forward grip, or a same-side draw to a reverse grip.

Both combinations are exceptional values. You decide whether you need the minimal and very flat satin model 2030, or the grip and comfort of the cord-wrapped 2030CW. Think of them as little insurance policies.

LAST ROUND LOCK OPEN

Click to viewThe slide will lock open after the last round in the magazine has been fired. Our unique patented magazine design and heat-treated steel lock open insert allows us to offer this special and desirable feature which you can only find on 'Advantage Arms' .22LR GLOCK conversion kits.

INTERNAL FIRING PIN SAFETY

Glock incorporated an internal firing pin safety into their guns. We thought it was important enough to include it on our conversion kits as well. Our internal firing pin safety is designed to eliminate accidental discharges from dropping the firearm.

FINISH

All Aluminum parts are Anodized Per Mil-A-8625 with a matte black finish. All steel parts are heat treated with a Black Oxide Finish. The barrel is made from heat treated 416 Stainless Steel.

THE 10 SECOND INSTALLATION

Installation is simple and does not require any modifications to your GLOCK pistol. Simply remove the GLOCK magazine and slide as outlined in your GLOCK owner's manual. Now slide the "Advantage Arms" slide onto the frame, until it engages with the slide lock. Check to make sure that the slide lock is in its most upward position. Insert the conversion magazine. You are now ready to shoot.

This procedure can be accomplished in less than 10 seconds with some practice.
